13 Days Best of Uganda Primate Safari on Self Drive
This is one of the best tours to be done with a car from 4×4 Rentals Uganda. 13 days Uganda primate tour will enable you to explore primate destinations like Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Kibale National Park, Kalinzu Forest, Kyambura Gorge, and Budongo Forest and Semuliki wildlife Life reserve. Day 1: Entebbe International Airport – Budongo Forest
Meet our driver with a car at Entebbe Airport – drive to Budongo Forest which is situated in northern Uganda in Murchison Falls National Park. The 4-5hrs drive will reward you the views of many attractions along the way like Ziwa Rhino sanctuary, Karuma falls among others. Arrive for relaxation at Budongo Eco Resort, Paraa safari lodge, Murchison River Lodge, or Red chili Rest Camp.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking in Budongo Forest
After breakfast, drive to Budongo chimpanzee trekking point, get a briefing and then move into the forest to look for chimpanzees in their natural habitat.
With the help of ranger guides, you will be able to detect where chimps are on this particular day. Meet the chimps, take photos/ films and then return to your accommodation, refresh and relax as you wait for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Drive to Kibale National Park
Wake up early and drive to Kibale National Park. It’s a long journey so, you will have en route stopover for lunch – proceed with the journey to Kibale National Park for dinner and overnight at primate Lodge Kibale, Chimp Nest Lodge, or Nyinabulitwa Country Resort.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale National Park
Wake up early for the cup of tea/ coffee – move to the park headquarters for briefing and then walk into the forest to look for the amazing chimpanzees. You can choose to trek chimps in the morning or in the afternoon based on your schedule. Meet chimpanzees, take photos and then drive to Toro- Semuliki Game reserve.
Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking in Toro- Semuliki Game reserve
After breakfast, move to trek chimpanzees in the forests. Return and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You can stay in your hired tents or at Mweya safari Lodge, Enganzi Lodge, Twin Lake Lodge, or Katara Lodge.
Day 6: Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge
Just like on other days, the trek will start with a briefing at 7:30 am. Walk to meet Chimps in Kyambura Gorge. Expect to meet other primates like colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and so on. Return to your accommodation after chimpanzee trekking for lunch, relax as you wait for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Chimpanzee trekking in Kalinzu Forest
After your breakfast at your lodge, you will transfer to Kalinzu forest for chimpanzee tracking. You can also include any other activity of your choice in case you do not feel like using the afternoon for relaxing
Day 8: Self-drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
You will drive at leisure to the home of mountain Gorillas – on the way, expect to find the tree-climbing trees swinging on the fig tree branches. You can stay in your hired tents OR stay at Silver Back Lodge, Chameleon Hill Lodge, Gorilla Mist Camp, Bakiga Lodge, or Rushaga Gorilla Camp.
Day 9: Gorilla trekking in BINP
After breakfast, drive to the park headquarters with drinking water and packed lunch. Be briefed and then walk into the forest to search for the amazing giants. The trek may take 3-5hrs or a full day depending on the movements of the Gorillas. The happiness obtained at the view of the mountain gorillas is incomparable. One hour is always given to the trekkers to see gorillas, take photos and then return to your accommodation to relax and wait for dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Transfer to Mgahinga National Park
After breakfast, drive to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Dinner and overnight in Mount Gahinga Lodge or in your hired Tents.
Day 11: Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga Forest
Gorilla trek in Mgahinga gorilla national park following the same procedures issued in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. Return to your lodge and relax
Day 12: Golden Monkey trekking
Set out for golden monkey tracking in the morning, after which you can set out for a community tour and relax later in the evening.
Day 13: Drive back to Entebbe Airport – meet our driver at the Airport to receive the car.
